Summer Shines in Tiburon
While much of San Francisco spends June and July peering through a curtain of fog (Hello, Karl), Tiburon often enjoys bluer skies, warmer afternoons, and weather that encourages al fresco dining and hiking in the hills.
Hop on the ferry from San Francisco, and in less than 30 minutes, you’ll disembark in Tiburon, where, during the summer months, a vacation-like energy rolls down Main Street.
Live Life Outdoors
Summer in Tiburon draws people outdoors to trails and tables.
The Old Rail Trail, which follows the shoreline between downtown Tiburon and Blackie's Pasture, becomes a favorite route for walkers, runners, and cyclists. Along the way, Richardson Bay remains a constant companion, while Mount Tamalpais and the Golden Gate Bridge make guest appearances.
The Angel Island-Tiburon Island Ferry departs from downtown and carries visitors to Angel Island State Park, where hiking trails, historic sites such as the Immigration Station Museum, and San Francisco Bay views enhance a full day of exploration.
Even those with no particular destination or plan will find pleasure in wandering along Shoreline Park or hiking up to Hippie Tree for a swing, a nostalgic summer treat if ever there was one.
Al Fresco Lunches, Happy Hours & Waterfront Views
Outdoor dining in Tiburon makes every meal feel like a summer holiday, especially at places like 100+ year old Sam's Anchor Cafe, where diners settle beneath umbrellas overlooking the bay for burgers, crab cakes, and plates of fresh seafood and chilled drinks from the outdoor bar.
Nearby, Malibu Farm offers fresh California fare all day and has a happy hour that goes from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., just steps from the water.
At the end of Shoreline Park, The Caprice dangles over the water and pairs panoramic views with an upscale atmosphere that feels well-suited for celebrations and date nights.
Sunset Sips (Tuesday-Friday, between 5 p.m. and 6 p.m.) at the Bungalow Kitchen invites regulars in for a moment of seasonal cocktails paired with craveable bites that can easily spill over into dinner at the bar or on the outside patio if you’re lucky enough to snag a table.
Taco Tuesday is alive and well at the Lodge at Tiburon, where their Tacos & Tequilla menu is available between 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. Think classic margaritas, palomas and specialty drinks paired with $5 tacos.
If you’re looking for up-close water views, the Angel Island-Tiburon Ferry offers a 4th of July Fireworks cruise, sunset cruises, and wildlife cruises that leave straight from the dock downtown.
Community Events & Seasonal Traditions
Summer also brings a calendar filled with opportunities to experience Tiburon's strong sense of community.
Mark your calendar for Friday, August 21, from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., when Friday Night on Main transforms downtown into an open-air neighborhood block party where you can dip in and out of restaurants and shops, dine outside, get your face painted, listen to music, and more.
Nearby, Belvedere's popular Concerts in the Park series fills summer evenings with live music. The free events unfurl at Belvedere City Hall and will begin at 4 p.m. on June 21, July 12, August 9, and September 6.
Traveling with kids? Check out the Triple Threat Summer Camp at Cinelounge Tiburon between Monday, June 22, and Thursday, June 25, 2026, where kids ages 4-9 are invited to sing, dance, and act, and explore the world of performance in a fun and supportive environment.
Why Summer in Tiburon?
Some destinations build summer around major attractions and packed itineraries. Tiburon takes a different approach.
Here, summer is measured in ferry rides, leisurely lunches that last well into the afternoon, sunset walks along the shoreline, and evenings spent laughing over dinner with family and friends.
It's the season when Tiburon feels most relaxed, most social, and perhaps most itself.
