Easy-does-it during family time in Tiburon

Family fun in Tiburon means bikes, picnics, tree swings, ice-cream and pizza. Traditional fun in a one-of-a-kind Northern California bayside setting!

If you're ferrying over from San Francisco or taking a water taxi from other points, you won't need a car during your stay in Tiburon. If you drive in, plan to park in one of the towns' lots and tuck the keys away until it's time to leave town.

First stop: Wake in one of our hotels and borrow a bike from the front desk. They will help you make your route selection from easy and not-so easy bike routes.

Next: Woodlands Market for picnic supplies to pop into your bike basket. If you're biking Old Rail Trail to Blackie's Pasture, there are lots of bayside benches and a playground (with a view, naturally) to set up your picnic.

After lunch: Consider biking out to Paradise Beach State Park or up the hill to the Hippie Tree where there is a tree swing with a thrilling ride and -- you guessed it -- a spectacular view. Get your camera ready, it’s an Insta-worthy family photo waiting to happen.

Dinner time means kid-friendly food at Waypoint Pizza, Sam’s Anchor Cafe (lively bayside deck), or your pick of Italian. Arrange a boat ride with Angel Island-Tiburon Ferry or Golden Gate Ferry to see the lights of the Bay.

Tuck in at either Waters Edge Hotel with amazing views of the San Francisco Bay and skyline from the deck, or The Lodge at Tiburon with its pool, fireplaces, and the Tiburon Tavern.

The next morning after breakfast, catch a ferry for a 10 minute ride out to Angel Island, a crown jewel of the Bay Area in the San Francisco Bay. Activities include:

Exploring the island on foot, bike, or Segway. Go to the top for amazing family photo ops.
A guided tour to learn about the history of the island.
Bring your equipment and play baseball at the historic ball field or fish from the pier or beaches on the island.
Lunch and live music at the Angel Island Cantina.

Upon return from the island, treat the family to ice cream from Caffe Acri and spread out on the lawn at Shoreline Park to look at the views, pet the dogs, and plane your next outing for family fun in Tiburon.
