Take On Your New Year’s Resolutions in Tiburon

According to a recent survey, among the top New Year’s resolutions made each year include eating well, exercise, spending more time with friends and family, and learning a new skill. For those of us who call Tiburon home, that’s just a typical week in our beautiful corner of the world.

Ready to go? Here are just a few ideas to jumpstart your New Year’s Resolutions in Tiburon.

Eat Well

One of the best things about Tiburon is its local dining scene, and wherever you end up in Downtown Tiburon, count on fresh food prepared with local ingredients and prepared with lots of love.

Vegans and vegetarians will appreciate the menus at Malibu Farm, which are peppered with flavor-packed choices such as wood oven butternut squash pizza, vegan coconut curry, and a roasted pear and burrata salad that will rock your resolution-keeping world.

Everyone loves a secret but this one won’t be kept quiet very long. The Bungalow Kitchen is hosting a Secret Sushi omakase experience with celebrated sushi chef Yama who guides diners through a multi-course meal, highlighting the freshest seasonal ingredients and fish sourced from Japan. The cost is $150 per person, Wednesday to Sunday. See times and make reservations here.

They say variety is the spice of life, and the concept is alive and well at family-friendly Salt & Pepper, open every day for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The menu is as delicious as it is huge, challenging even the pickiest of eaters not to find something to devour. With items such as crab and avocado toast, gluten-free pancakes, and perfectly cooked eggs benedict (six kinds) to hearty salads, pasta dishes, enchiladas, and 10+ types of sandwiches and burgers, you could eat here every day for months and never have the same thing twice. Perhaps another resolution to add to your list?

Spend Time with Family & Friends

Go French with the family on Wednesdays at Petit Left Bank, where you can grab their Steak-Frites special for just $19.95. Want to start with another French classic? The French Onion Soup is just $5 on Wednesdays. It's the ultimate French with Friends night out.

Raise a glass to another year of friendship at Squalo Vino, home to 15+ wines by the Glass, 90+ wines by the bottle, local brews and small bites. Tiburon Wine’s vast selection of wines is curated by long time wine and spirits guru, Jerry Horn, aka Dr. Champagne. And speaking of Champagne, the doctor is happy to help you stock your home cellar with some of the world’s best bubbles. You never know when a party might break out!

Curious about Caviar? The staff at the Caviar Co. Champagne Lounge are happy to help you discover a wide range of textures and flavors while offering in depth education on its sustainability and history. They have live music on Friday nights, too, and if you come Wednesday through Friday between 4 – 7 p.m., bubbles are 20% off. Not a fan of caviar? No worries. The lounge is still a pretty place to gather the girls for glass of wine and a platter of oysters.

Exercise/ Get Outdoors

Whether it’s more steps you’re after this year or simply moving your amazing body every day, the Old Rail Trail is just the place to start with a group of friends or on your own. The paved flat path skirts Richardson Bay from Blackie’s Pasture to downtown Tiburon. It’s runs 2.6 miles each way, too, which makes splurging on that dessert tonight a no brainer.

Angel Island is perfect for the casual bike rider or walker thanks to the six-mile Perimeter Trail around the island. Bonus: the spectacular views of San Francisco, the bay, and the Golden Gate Bridge. You can BYO bike on the Angel Island Ferry, that leaves from downtown Tiburon, or rent a bike from Demo Sports or on the island from Angel Island Company.

Grab your partner and take a hike to Hippie Tree, a stately Eucalyptus with a sturdy wood and rope swing. The pinch-me views of Tiburon, Belvedere, and the Golden Gate Bridge are exhilarating, as is the child-like fun of swaying back and forth over the hillside. The iconic spot is on public land owned by the Town of Tiburon. Please remember to pack up trash so all visitors can enjoy the space.

Learn/Resurrect a Hobby/Skill

You’re never too old or young to learn something new, and if you’re a member of the Belvedere-Tiburon Library, the sky’s the limit on what you can do thanks to creativebug, an online library of high-quality, on-trend arts and crafts instructional videos. Just enter your library card number and begin learning anything from crocheting to creating container gardens and upcycle sewing projects.

And speaking of getting crafty, every Tuesday at 4 p.m., the library invites kids ages 5 and up to come to the Founder’s room to create an easy and creative project. The library is also home to an Arts & Crafts Makerspace equipped with a Cricut (a digital die-cutting machine), sewing machines, and a stock of essentials. Perfect for tacking those projects you’ve been talking about for years. A library card is required to book the space.
